Smart Schools Network

Background

Smart Schools Network Since its initiation in 2003, the pilot project has expanded to 38 public and experimental schools, throughout 12 of the 26 governorates in Egypt.

The initiative introduces new methods of pedagogy and administration using ICT in order to raise educational standards and promote "computer literacy" amongst Egyptian students attending preparatory school.

The SSN is the first integrated move towards a comprehensive modernization plan for the Egyptian Schooling system. The project will eventually expand to 50 public schools in Egypt and hopes to become the standard model for preparatory school education (levels 7-9) in Egypt.

Objectives
  • Introducing ICT in preparatory schools.
  • Qualifying students and teachers to obtain the International Computer Driving License (ICDL).
  • Improving teaching and educational methods.
  • Transforming the school into a productive unit and a Community Learning Center (CLC).

Nasr Preparatory School in Siwa

Mr. Hamed Sobhe – teacher of English at Nasr school attended the Windows and Word course. Unfortunately, often the time of training is conflicting with the time of teaching. As soon as he is learning something new in Word, he is teaching the students how to use it. Once a week he uses the lab to teach students Word. He encourages its use and provides better marks to students that prove using Word. More
