Launching the First Inclusive Employment Workshops for Persons with Disabilities in Cooperation with Raya Holding for Financial Investments

On 26 September 2018, a workshop entitled "Inclusive Employment for Persons with Disabilities" is held under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), in partnership with the International Labor Organization (ILO) to discuss the concepts of inclusive employment for persons with disabilities and the importance of diversity and inclusion in work environments.
This comes in the framework of the State approach to categories that worth caring, in order to achieve social justice that was reflected in 2018 declaration as the year of persons with disabilities, and the launch of the protection and empowerment of persons with disabilities strategy which is adopted by MCIT through the Central Department of Community Development in the Ministry through the implementation of several initiatives to empower different groups, including youth, women, persons with disabilities and others to access tools, skills, training and knowledge of value to build a modern technological society.
This workshop is held for HR managers at Raya Holding for Financial Investments at the beginning of workshops series aimed at raising awareness of employers to be active actors in inclusion of people with disabilities in labour market by discussing facilitation of technical methods that persons with visual disabilities use, in addition, the best technical solutions that persons with physical disabilities can use and the proper jobs for them.
The workshop is implemented within the second phase preparatory activities of Jobs and Skills for Persons with Disabilities using Technology and Communications Project which is also implemented by partnership with Inclusive Community Development using Information Technology and Communications Project and ILO and supported by UN Program- The Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).
This project that was implemented by MCIT in (2014 - 2017) in partnership with the ILO and supported by the United Nations Program - Committee on the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, was designed to help create employment opportunities for youth. As a result, a network of companies supporting the employment of persons with disabilities was established, more than 600 direct beneficiaries were trained, and more than 2,600 beneficiaries were provided through occupational therapy CDs in 12 governorates on the skills necessary for the labor market to enable them to find decent jobs appropriate to their abilities, as well as training 40 trainers Of institutions and NGOs working in the field of disability.
In the second phase of the project, partners seek for generalizing the experience by engage governmental bodies, ministries and organizations that relevant to persons with disabilities in order to unify all efforts in this regard, and build a network of all actors to direct and guide persons with disabilities for the services provided to them such as training, rehabilitation centers and employment.
