Discussion on the Preparation of a Workshop on Cyber Crime
On its second meeting that was summoned lately, the Internet Safety team discussed the preparation of a workshop on cyber crime and child internet safety. The workshop is going to be held on 30-31 March 2010 in Cairo in collaboration with the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange (TAIEX) of the European Commission. The importance of monitoring and evaluation of the proposed projects was stressed during the meeting focusing on the capacity building of people dealing with these issues as well as raising public awareness through an integrated media plan.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. Hoda Baraka, First Deputy to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology and was attended by Nagwa Shoeb Director General of Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement; representatives of the Internet Safety team and the Ministries of Justice and Interior (General Directorate for Information and Documentation), Education, Media, Higher Education and Family and Population; State Information Service; the National Telecom Regulatory Authority; and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency.
During the meeting a brief review of work for the Internet Safety team since last October and until February 2010 and a brief review of future work plans were presented.
It is worth mentioning that Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement initiated the Cyber Peace Initiative in 2007 which Internet Safety is one of its most important themes.
