Description:

Social entrepreneurship is the ability of innovating solutions to overcome social and environmental challenges and at the same time financially sustainable. History shows that economic progress has been significantly advanced by pragmatic people who are entrepreneurial and innovative, able to exploit opportunities and willing to take risks. From this context, YSEP Egypt aims to empower potential young social entrepreneurs in Egypt by providing assistance in the following 3 main areas:

  • Knowledge
    • Advertising and awareness sessions
    • Capacity Building Workshop (for 20 Social Innovators)

    The workshop will cover topics such as leadership, teambuilding, working with communities, using ICT in business, strategic social venture planning, enterprise management, measuring Social Return on Investment (SROI), resource mobilization strategies, …etc. Tentative workshop

  • Financing
    • Competitive selection process
    • Step-by-step financing (in 3 tranches based on deliverables approved by mentors for up to 15 Social Innovators)
  • Mentorship
    • Implement mentorship activities for up to 15 Social Innovators

Goal:

Inspire youth to be CHAMPION leading small business with high impacts towards the surrounding community using ICTs.

Objectives:

  • Identify and support young people in Egypt that are potential social entrepreneurs with their most innovative ideas/ solutions, commitment and vision for social innovation
  • Reaching out to work with disadvantaged youth and underrepresented groups in society which includes young women, the poor, rural youth, young people with disabilities, orphans, indigenous peoples and ethnic minorities.
  • Promotion of gender equality and human rights is critical if young social entrepreneurs are indeed to challenge existing social, political and economic structures that discriminate and disempowering the poor and the marginalized.
